The
Rocky Mountain Dream Team was formed by Jo Thompson in 2002 which was
a result of the Dancing for the Dream Foundation. There are well over
20 team members from the Rocky Mountain area.
The Dancing For The Dream ® Corporation introduces line dancing to
Seniors to encourage a more active and healthy lifestyle. Research indicates
that regular exercise is necessary to improve and maintain one’s
quality of life. Repeating patterns of low-impact line dance steps is
a fun - aerobic - country western style form of exercise affecting both
the body and the mind! The end result reduces the cost of taking care
of seniors by keeping them active, healthy, and happy.
Line Dancing is now an official sport in the National Senior Olympics.
The Rocky Mountain Dream Team performed at the National Senior Games in
Virginia Beach in May 2003. They competed in the Colorado Senior Games
and received a Gold Metal for their “Splish Splash” Performance.
Eight of the Rocky Mountain Dream Team members came to Rapid City for
the Black Hills Dance Festival in April 2004 and performed their Cut-A-Rug
routine with the Black Hills Steppers.
